Korean Bimbimbap Dish

Dalgano - Korean Food | Following Korean dramas, bibimbap is a favorite among many Koreans. Usually in Korea people eat bibimbap for lunch and dinner. From children to adults, everyone in Korea loves bibimbap.

Boyband member from Super Junior Kyuhyun is one of the celebrities who love this food. Bibimbap usually contains various kinds of vegetables, meat, and eggs served in a bowl. The ingredients for making bibimbap vary widely. You can use bean sprouts, carrots, spinach, zucchini, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and others.

The meat used in bibimbap also varies using beef, chicken, or fish. To complete the bibimbap, a half-boiled egg is usually added. For the taste of the bibimbap, it comes from gochujang and sesame oil which is mandatory in the bibimbap. How to eat bibimbap is to mix all the ingredients together according to the translation of bibimbap which literally means mixed rice.

Korean Bimbimbap Dish



Ingredients:

  • A bowl of rice
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • 200 gr ground beef/chicken
  • 2 small carrots
  • 2 Japanese cucumbers
  • 2 handfuls of bean sprouts
  • 50 grams of spinach
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt to taste
  • The right amount of oil
  • Sesame seeds to taste

How To Make:

  1. First finely chop all the garlic then set aside.
  2. Heat a pot of boiling water to blanch the vegetables.
  3. For bean sprouts, boil until half cooked then remove the bean sprouts and mix the bean sprouts with a little soy sauce then set aside.
  4. In boiling water, blanch the spinach for 1-2 minutes then remove and add a little sesame oil and soy sauce.
  5. Cut the carrots into matchsticks and thinly slice the zucchini.
  6. Sprinkle carrots and zucchini with a little salt and let sit for about 10 minutes. For zucchini, gently squeeze the zucchini to remove the water from the zucchini.
  7. Heat a frying pan with a little cooking oil. Saute the carrots for a few minutes then remove and sauté the zucchini in the same way.
  8. For eggs, heat a frying pan with oil and then fry the eggs until the yolks are half cooked.
  9. For the meat, heat a frying pan then add a little cooking oil, after the pan is hot, add a little garlic until fragrant. Once fragrant, add the ground beef then add a little soy sauce, stir until the meat is cooked, then add a little sesame oil and stir until evenly distributed then set aside.
  10. Prepare a bowl then brush with a little sesame oil. After smeared with sesame oil, give a portion of white rice and arrange bean sprouts, spinach, carrots, zucchini, and don't forget the meat that has been sauteed. Put a spoonful of gochujang into the rice then arrange the half-cooked beef eye eggs.
  11. Lastly a little sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  12. For serving you can mix/stir everything together. Bibimbap is ready to serve!
