Dalgano - Canada Food tourtiere is just a name, a pasty. This cooked French pie can be filled with an endless variety of fillings, and it fills the beef. But beef isn't the only ingredient, here it's married to a long list of vegetables, herbs, spices and of course the meat.

This beef tourtiere recipe is a succulent and succulent version of French Quebec beef. In classic style, a glass of Red wine and a hint of cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon warm the meat and potato cake. Its warm flavor, which is slightly reminiscent of pastel Burgundy beef, makes it ideal for serving as a casual meal on a chilly evening.

Ingredients:

How To Make Canadian Beef Torture:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F. Roll out cookie dough into 2 equal-sized circles to fit a 9-inch pan. Insert the bottom of the pan in a circle and set aside the prepared pie crust and remaining pastry for later.
  2. Using a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat and sauté the beef, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, and potatoes until the vegetables are tender and the meat is cooked through.
  3. Drain excess fat from the pan. Add beef stock, red wine, herbs, and spices to meats and vegetables; Simmer the mixture over medium low heat, covered, for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir the mashed potatoes and dry breadcrumbs into the mixture. Allow the meat filling to sit for 3 minutes. Spoon filling into prepared pie crust and top with remaining cake batter. Dry the dough until covered, flute the edges, cut the vents on top, and bake the cake for 12 minutes. Reduce oven heat to 350F and continue cake baking for 25 to 30 minutes, until cake is golden brown.
