Japanese Food Recipe Tempe Katsu

This time I changed the main ingredient from chicken to tempeh. more economical and still fits the Indonesian tongue. The savory and crunchy exterior is paired with a delicious spicy sour sauce (you can use Tonkatsu sauce).

Recipes Tempeh Katsu Japanese



Ingredients:

Wet flour ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 4-5 tablespoons of flour
  • Pepper, salt, sugar, broth/seasoning according to taste


Spicy sour sauce ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons margarine/olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce/tomato
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons English soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Cayenne pepper according to taste
  • Sugar, salt, vinegar according to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Corn flour (optional)


Other Ingredients:

  • 1 tempeh board
  • 150 grams of bread flour
  • Cooking oil as needed



How to Make Tempe Katsu:

  1. Cut the tempeh about 2 x 2 x 3 cm and then flatten it.
  2. Make a wet dough, mash the garlic, season with a little salt. Put in place.
  3. Add eggs, coconut milk, flour, pepper, salt, stock/seasoning, and sugar. Stir well.
  4. Dip the tempeh in the wet mixture and then roll it in the breadcrumbs. Make sure the surface of the tempe is primed.
  5. Fry tempeh until golden brown.
  6. Make the spicy sour sauce. Slice the onions, cayenne pepper, and garlic cloves. Put in place.
  7. Add barbeque sauce, oyster sauce, English soy sauce, chili sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well. Add cornstarch if necessary.
  8. Put olive oil/margarine into the pan. Fry the onion and garlic until brown.
  9. Add the cayenne pepper and the sauce combination just now.
  10. Add water, then taste.
  11. Add a little vinegar, cook, until the sauce thickens.
  12. Spicy Sour Tempe Katsu Sauce is ready to serve.
