This blanched spinach salad can be eaten as a side dish, added to salad mixes, or to make an onigiri mix, and is a great source of vitamin K, Vitamin A, and folic acid which are essential for healthy bones, skin, and energy.

Ingredients :

  • 1 bunch Spinach
  • to taste Katsuoboshi (Thin Flakes of Fish)
  • to taste Japanese Soy Sauce (Shoyu)


How to make :

  1. Tie the spinach leaves with a rubber band in the middle to keep the spinach uniform.
  2. Bring the water to a boil, then add the spinach from the stems for about 20 seconds. After that, cook the spinach for about 1 minute
  3. Remove and cool in running water. Once cool, can be squeezed by hand to drain the water. Take off the rubber band
  4. Place on bamboo to make sushi rolls, roll and squeeze out the remaining water. Try to squeeze out as much water as possible
  5. Reopen the sushi roll, the spinach will form beautifully. If you don't have a sushi roll, just squeeze it by hand carefully
  6. Cut spinach 4-5 cm long. Place one piece on a plate and arrange it into a pyramid. Sprinkle katsuobushi and shoyu.
